National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Lone Star Chapter Hosts Walk MS: Kemah on Sept. 20

WHO & WHAT

Nearly 1,000 walkers from the Bay area are expected to participate in Walk MS: Kemah at the Kemah Boardwalk on September 20. The goal – to raise $60,000 to help the estimated 20,000 Texans living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and their families served by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Lone Star Chapter.

The Lone Star Chapter invites families, friends, co-workers and neighbors to the Kemah Boardwalk for fun in the sun at one of the top tourist attractions in the area. Walk MS: Kemah includes one-mile and 5K routes and features breakfast, live entertainment, door prizes and discounts on admission to the Boardwalk’s amusement park the day of the Walk. Last year’s Lone Star Chapter walks raised more than $1 million to support research, services and programs for the Lone Star Chapter. Visit www.walkmstexas.org to register for the walk, support a walker, or volunteer. There is a no registration fee and no minimum pledge commitment; however the average walker raises $225. Registration is available through 8 a.m. the day of the event.

Free event supports breast cancer awareness month and promises fierce competition, great food and cultural entertainment.

HOUSTON, July 15, 2008 - The Texas Dragon Boat Association (TDBA) is pleased to announce The Honorable Johnny Isbell, Mayor of the City of Pasadena, as the Honorary Chair of the 2008 Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta.

This fall’s weekend-long festival, on October 18-19, marks the fifth year of the TDBA regatta and will showcase up to 50 teams competing along the banks of Pasadena Lake in Clear Lake Park.
Divisions for both amateur and experienced teams comprised of men's, women's, mixed, and youth crews will race in multiple heats. Based on the level of interest and increased participation year after year, the TDBA hopes to kick off a year-round boating program for youth teams later next year.

Confirmed sponsors to date include: AET –Tankers, AT&T, Centerpoint Energy, Continental Airlines, EXMAR Offshore Company, Halliburton, Memorial Hermann, Pink Phurree, Shell Oil Company, St. John's School(Riverstone & Sienna), and the United Space Alliance.

of Dwellings on Jamaica beach were destroyed the Seabrook and Kemah flats looked like ground zero. Houston highrise glass buildings

at the Seabrook Shipyard but "never again. I servived the storm and the bad guys did come in smal boats as soon as the wind died down.
Before law was restored and before than Chief of Police Bill Kerber and his officers could even get back in the Seabrook Shipyard,
I had to rack the action on my shotgun more than once. Yes, it really is the international language!" Advice. Be safe evacuate.
