AT MARCI’S VIRTUAL STORE.
Online Marci's Egypt and More features personalized art.
What is personalized art?
Well, personalized art is art where Marci and
Larry paint your name in
Hieroglyphics. That's right your name is painted
in the ancient
language of the Egyptians using pictures of animals
such as eagles and
owls, objects such as baskets and parts of the
body such as feet and
hands. People love seeing their name in Hieroglyphics.
Marci's name in
hieroglyphics is Owl (M), Eagle (A), Mouth (R),
Folded Cloth (S is the
phonetic sound) and Arm Bracelet (I).
If you are not familiar with ancient Egypt, some
of this may sound kind
of weird. If you are familiar, some of this you
will already know but
since this WEB Page is for everyone, it is important
to provide some
background.
Marci and Larry give thanks to all those involved
in unraveling this puzzle and making it possible to write your name in
hieroglyphics.
Marci and Larry would also like to give thanks
to whomever invented the papyrus paper that these beautiful reproductions
are painted on. Unfortunately, the ancient Egyptians did not leave any
information about the inventor.
Never heard of Papyrus? Papyrus was the first paper. In fact, the word paper comes from the word papyrus. The ancient Egyptian's began making paper over 5,000 years ago. Prior to papyrus everything was written on stone tablets which were hard to carry because of their weight. Papyrus was a revolutionary invention. Marci and Larry feel that it rates right up there with the Internet in terms of the impact on people and society. Papyrus is an aquatic plant that grows in the marshes of the Nile. It also grows at the Mercer Arboretum just north of Houston and in Galveston at the Moody Gardens. |
If you are interested in learning more about papyrus, you can go to the library and look it up or send an email to Marci and Larry (papyrus@gateway.net) and they will send you information about this creation of genius.
Marci’s store is located in the retail shopping area just outside the new Kemah Waterfront on Galveston Bay in Kemah, Texas. Larry and Marci have art from around the world and do wonderful custom framing. Customers say, “visiting Marci’s Egypt and More is like visiting a museum.” |

Come visit their store. They would love to meet you and tell you the stories they know about ancient Egypt or have you tell them stories you know. Marci and Larry have learned a lot from reading and studying and actually visiting Egypt, but they really enjoy hearing new stories from customers who have different experiences.
Come to Kemah for lunch or
dinner. After dining take a walk for a special treat.
Marci’s is just a short walk from the Kemah
Waterfront and provides a really wonderful experience not to mention an
opportunity to walk off some of those calories.
