Kemah, TX 36th Annual  Blessing of the Fleet will be Sunday August 1st 2004 at the Kemah Boardwalk. Shrimp Fisherman know  how dangerous it can be to fish for a living. The custom of blessing the shrimp boats started in Kemah, TX in 1968.
it was the 1st year a traditional Christian "Blessing" that dates back to 325 AD. was observed by  the local Catholic Priest, Protestant Clergyman & Fleet. Praying for full nets, safety of the boat and crew and preservation and multiplication of the shrimp for more of the words finest shrimp, American wild-caught shrimp.
